Amid global crises, an economic upswing, and a more and more competitive market, applying technology and innovations in power plants is a necessity to increase profits for PV Power and to contribute to Vietnam’s increasing electricity demand ultimately.
Thus, PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) has invested in the construction of the Nhon Trach 3 & Nhon Trach 4 power plants, which are supplied with gas and steam turbines, as well as generators, by GE. To facilitate the plants’ sustainable operations,
PV Power and GE signed a long-term maintenance agreement (LTMA) on 28 Nov 2022 following an 8-month-long negotiation process after the initial framework agreement, which had been signed in March this year.
According to the LTMA, GE will provide PV Power with all supplies, maintenance and services for the periodic repair of main equipment blocks, including for gas and steam turbines, generators, heat recovery furnaces, and control systems, along with repair maintenance training for PV Power’s technical staff.
As the two blocks use the latest 9HA.02 gas turbines, maintenance is of utmost importance to ensure efficiency, safety, and stability in their operations.
The LTMA is considered the second to the most important contract of a power plant development project. It will not only to ensure long-term maintenance services for the main equipment but also open opportunities for PV Power to strengthen its capabilities to perform high-quality maintenance work.
The official signing of the LTMA for the Nhon Trach 3 & 4 power plants has marked a vital milestone on the path of sustainable and long-term cooperation between PV Power and GE.
The Nhon Trach 3 & 4 power plants are important projects under the Power Development Plan VII as assigned by the Vietnamese government to PV Power.
This is the first thermal power project fuelled by liquefied natural gas in Vietnam, contributing to the implementation of the Prime Minister of Vietnam’s net zero commitment by 2050 at last year’s COP26.
