Panasonic, a global leader in innovative consumer electronics, is partnering with Harvey Norman, a prominent retail chain in Malaysia, to spearhead the “Energy for Green Future” initiative. This collaborative effort aims to actively promote battery recycling among Malaysians, marking a significant milestone in both companies’ commitment to environmental sustainability and encouraging an eco-conscious lifestyle.
The key objective of this partnership is to align with Panasonic’s enduring dedication to social responsibility. By coming together, Panasonic and Harvey Norman seek to make a substantial positive impact on the environment and raise awareness about the critical importance of battery recycling.
Keisuke Nishida, managing director of Panasonic Malaysia, said, “Our corporation’s mission is to contribute to society, addressing global challenges such as climate change. The ‘Energy for Green Future’ initiative aligns with our brand action tagline ‘Create Today. Enrich Tomorrow.’ Through this collaboration, we aim to work towards a sustainable future by providing convenient battery recycling options and increasing awareness of their importance.”
‘Energy For Green Future’ with Battery Eco Bins at Harvey Norman
As part of this collaboration, Panasonic and Harvey Norman will install dedicated Panasonic Eco Bins at Harvey Norman outlets nationwide. These Eco Bins will serve as collection points for used batteries, encouraging battery recycling.
To further motivate customers to engage in responsible recycling practices, Panasonic Energy is introducing a trade-up program. Customers bringing their used batteries for recycling will receive an additional discount on selected eneloop rechargeable batteries purchases. This incentive aims to promote the use of rechargeable batteries, contributing to the reduction of batteries in landfills and supporting the conservation of the planet.
Panasonic plans to introduce exclusive battery models designed with sustainability in mind, with the first availability at Harvey Norman. This initiative expands battery choices for eco-conscious customers and aligns with the company’s green initiatives.
Eugene Lim, product manager of the electrical division at Harvey Norman, said, “This collaboration with Panasonic is a testament to our shared commitment to environmental sustainability and stewardship. Together, we’re actively engaging Malaysians in the journey towards creating a sustainable difference and future.”
The Panasonic Eco Bins are currently located in eight Harvey Norman locations in the Klang Valley, with plans to expand to more outlets. Until 26 November 2023, Panasonic is organizing a Battery Roadshow at Harvey Norman Mid Valley, offering customers additional discounts and gifts for bringing used batteries to the Eco Bins. The Recycle, Post & Win contest provides participants with the opportunity to win Panasonic Wireless Earbuds and Panasonic One-2 LED Lantern through creative photos with Eco Bins.
