Setel has introduced a new feature that enables the charging of electric vehicles (EVs) via the application in a move towards inclusive and greener mobility
EV users can locate their preferred charging station as well as the type of charger, and subsequently activate the charger via the app from within the comfort of their EVs. Payments are then deducted from the Setel wallet and simultaneously users earn Mesra points with every transaction.
Setel has partnered JomCharge as the first provider, with plans to onboard more providers in the near future including Energise by PETRONAS. In its first phase, EV users can use the Setel app to charge their EVs at five pilot locations: Lotus’s Tesco Kepong, EV Connection Workshop in Petaling Jaya, Carsome PJ Automall, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort in Penang as well as at ACO Group’s headquarters in Johor Bahru – with more locations to be rolled out progressively.
Mazlin Erawati Ab Manan, CEO of Setel said, “The offering of EV charging within the Setel ecosystem allows us to bring sustainability into focus. It is both a product of listening to our customers and part of our long-term plan to continuously innovate for inclusive mobility, in support of the global efforts towards decarbonising road transport. Driven by the rising adoption of EVs in Malaysia, we aim to make public charging infrastructure more accessible and enable convenient charging for EV users, replicating the seamless refuelling experience Setel currently offers to all motorists.”
