SunGreenH2, a leading innovator in green hydrogen production technology, has announced the signing of two pivotal partnerships with key partners, including a Strategic Manufacturing Partnership Agreement (SMPA) with MMI Systems and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with H2E International.
These agreements mark significant milestones in the company’s commercialisation journey to scale up production capacity in Singapore and expand its commercial footprint into Malaysia, as well as new markets in and beyond Southeast Asia.
The first strategic partnership was signed with H2E International Pte. Ltd, a renewable energy project developer based in Malaysia. This collaboration on renewable energy and off-grid/decentralised electrification projects in Malaysia will focus on developing and deploying hydrogen electrolyser and fuel cell-based renewable energy solutions for rural communities and facilities.
In addition, it will also establish an electrolyser system assembly facility in the country. As part of the broader mission to transform rural electrification across Malaysia, the collaboration is expected to supply multiple electrolyser systems in modular, scalable sizes, to support sustainable energy projects in underserved areas.
The second agreement was entered into with MMI Systems, a global precision manufacturer based in Singapore. This manufacturing partnership will enable the scaling up of SunGreenH2’s annual production capacity to approximately 100 MW to meet the rapidly growing demand for its high-efficiency electrolyser solutions.
Leveraging MMI’s advanced manufacturing capabilities, SunGreenH2 is set to ramp up production and accelerate the deployment of its solutions for projects in the European and APAC regions.
“As we forge ahead with these strategic partnerships, SunGreenH2 is accelerating its efforts to scale green hydrogen production and transform the region’s energy landscape. Together with MMI Systems and H2E International, we are unlocking new frontiers to accelerate the shift towards a sustainable and affordable clean hydrogen-powered future — driving both innovation and tangible impact in clean energy adoption.
“These partnerships will enable us to meet the rapidly growing demand for our green hydrogen solutions while demonstrating strong momentum in advancing our commercialisation plans,” said Tulika Raj, CEO and Co-Founder, SunGreenH2.
“We look forward to collaborating closely with MMI and H2E International and aim to leverage the expanded capacity to extend our presence in new markets.”
“This partnership marks a significant milestone in our mission to empower sustainable energy access for rural communities. SunGreenH2’s advanced electrolysers will empower transformative rural electrification and hydrogen innovation projects, paving the way for a sustainable, greener future in Malaysia and beyond,” said Sandra Liz Hon, Executive Director of H2E International, who is also serving as Annica’s Executive Director and CEO.
“The SunGreenH2-MMI strategic manufacturing partnership marks a significant step by both companies in advancing SunGreenH2’s cutting-edge clean energy electrolyser technology towards volume production and accelerating the transition to a greener world”, said BL Teh, Executive Director, MMI Group.
SunGreenH2 designs, develops, and manufactures high-efficiency electrolyserscapable of doubling hydrogen output while reducing energy usage by up to 20%. The company uses low-cost, earth-abundant materials in its electrolysers, which have a wide dynamic operating range for seamless pairing with renewable energy.
The electrolysers, which eliminate the need for precious metals in their construction, also exceed industrial standards for lifespan and degradation, allowing for long-term operation at a significantly lower total cost of ownership to green hydrogen project owners.
The agreements were signed at the Asia Clean Energy Summit (ACES) 2024 on 22 October 2024, during the Singapore International Energy Week, and witnessed by Guests of Honor, Frank Phuan, Vice Chairman, Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) and Business CEO, EDP Renewables APAC, Dr Lim Jui, CEO, SGInnovate and Kavita Gandhi, Executive Director, Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS).
