CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) and Yinson GreenTech have unveiled an innovative partnership aimed at making electric vehicles (EVs) more accessible to Malaysians. The collaboration allows Malaysians to own an electronic vehicle conveniently by subscribing through their CelcomDigi postpaid accounts. The launch event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI), YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz.
Facilitated through a collaboration between CelcomDigi’s Innovation Centre and Yinson GreenTech, the green technology business unit of Yinson Holdings Berhad (Yinson), customers can now opt for a lease-to-own arrangement for a rydeEV e-bike by signing up for any of CelcomDigi’s Postpaid 5G plans with the Easy360 installment plan.
This initiative, the first of its kind since both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in September, signifies a commitment to exploring innovative electric vehicle services and infrastructure for Malaysian consumers. The collaboration aims to drive EV and green energy adoption in the country.
Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry, expressed support for cross-industry collaboration, aligning with national policies such as the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP2030) and the National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP2020). He highlighted the growth potential of Malaysia’s EV industry, emphasizing its role in catalyzing manufacturing-based exports.
CelcomDigi’s CEO, Datuk Idham Nawawi, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Together, we can make EV more accessible to a large number of Malaysians at scale, quickly, in the most convenient and familiar way – now as easy as subscribing to a postpaid plan. We are contributing towards the future of transportation as well as driving environmental sustainability for Malaysia.”
Yinson Group CEO, Lim Chern Yuan, welcomed the collaboration, emphasizing the company’s commitment to innovating partnerships that reduce carbon footprints. He commended the government’s efforts in making e-motorcycles more accessible through various initiatives under the National Energy Transition Roadmap.
CelcomDigi offers customers the convenience of an all-in-one subscription model through the Easy360 installment plan. By signing up for CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G plans and subscribing to the Easy360 installment plan, customers can lease-to-own one of two rydeEV e-bikes, with added benefits including unlimited battery swaps, road tax and insurance coverage, e-bike maintenance (except tires), and the option to own the e-bike for just RM1 after the 36-month contract.
